The Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) Workshops

The Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) is holding workshops for the Cwm Taf Morgannwg Safeguarding Board and its partners. 

Disclosure Workshop - 27th January from 1:30pm until 3pm

This is aimed at managers and people involved in the recruitment process.

• Introduction to DBS
• Understand the benefits of DBS and you (organisation) working together
• Understand the different levels of DBS checks
• Understand when an employee is eligible for a check
• Understand what Regulated Activity is
• Understand the DBS Update Service
• Have an understanding of what safe recruitment practices can be in place that DBS checks can form a part of.

Barring Workshop - 7th February from 1pm until 3pm

This is aimed at managers and anyone with a responsibility for making DBS referrals and those involved in professional concerns.  

• Understand the benefits of DBS and you (employer) working together
• Understand the three different referral routes
• Understand when a DBS Barring referral should be made, including when the legal duty is met
• Understand Regulated Activity / Relevant Conduct and Harm Test
• Understand how to make a good quality referral
• Have a clear understanding of the consequences of not making appropriate barring referrals and the consequences of being included in one or both Barred Lists
