Welsh Apprenticeship Pathway in Supporting Survivors of VAWDASV

Welsh Women’s Aid are pleased to announce the development of a new Welsh Apprenticeship Pathway in Supporting Survivors of Violence against Women, Domestic Abuse & Sexual Violence (VAWDASV).

This is the first apprenticeship of its kind in Wales and aims to equip new workers to the VAWDASV sector with the knowledge and skills to effectively support survivors and to provide existing workers with the opportunity to complete a formal qualification which recognises their existing skills and expertise, increasing overall standardisation of the industry.

The apprenticeship will comprise of both on-the-job training and off-the-job education to provide apprentices with the support, guidance and well-rounded understanding of what is required to provide survivors of VAWDASV with best-practice, high-quality support, both emotionally and practically.

Welsh Women's Aid are inviting feedback on the draft Framework Pathway; and would be interested to hear from current apprentices, employers/organisations, training providers, awarding bodies, assessors, and other key stakeholders in Wales to ensure the Framework Pathway is fit for purpose.

The public consultation is open until the 6th June 2024 and is available in English and Welsh.
