Sharing nudes and semi-nudes
Sharing nudes and semi-nudes – sometimes referred to as ‘sexting’ – is the creation and/or sharing of nude or semi-nude images, videos or live streams by young people under the age of 18.
Most cases of creating and sharing nudes or semi-nude images take place outside education settings, but this is where incidents often manifest. A swift and confident response is important to ensure that children and young people are safeguarded, supported and educated.
The guidance below is intended to support education settings with developing procedures to respond to incidents involving sharing nudes or semi-nudes as part of their safeguarding arrangements. It also signposts to resources and sources of support.
